Watch and share this awesome promo video with highlights from last year, doesn’t that look like fun?!
Each year, REALTOR® Magazine honors rising stars in the real estate industry with new inductions into that year’s “30 Under 30 Class.” With over 20,000 eligible agents across the country, this prestigious honor is reserved for young professionals who exemplify the “ingenuity, dedication, and prowess that’s raising the bar in real estate today.”
Many REALTORS® apply for 30 Under 30, and yet few are selected. To say that the 30 Under 30 selection process is competitive is an understatement. This year, nearly 400 agents submitted applications, but only 30 will make the final cut. When an agent is selected for the esteemed 30 Under 30 Class, it is an honor not only for the agent and their broker, but also for the agent’s REALTOR Association at large. For this reason, the 2016 30 Under 30 contest creates a special opportunity for all of us in GCAAR, particularly GCAAR YPN.
GCAAR Represents. After the first round of elimination, judges have narrowed down the applicant pool to 50 finalists who are now vying for a spot in the 30 Under 30 Class of 2016. What’s amazing is that, 4 of these 50 finalists are GCAAR Members. What’s more, all 4 of the finalists are also current or alumni members of GCAAR YPN.
GCAAR YPN congratulates Jessica Evans (Real Living), Harrison Beacher (KW), Chad Dudley (RE/MAX), and Brittany Barsky Allison (Wydler Brothers)
The significance of this accomplishment is best understood after looking at the bigger picture. This year, the 50 finalists are comprised of agents from 29 different states. As many states go unrepresented, it is an honor to be able to claim even a single finalist. It’s even more of an honor to be able to say that the only state with more finalists than GCAAR has is Texas!
While contributing to our community and successfully building a business, these YPN members have helped raise the bar in our industry and have represented GCAAR across the country. Now that they have reached this final selection stage, it’s our turn to help one of them secure a spot among this year’s 30 Under 30.
Vote. Vote. And, Vote. REALTOR Magazine Judges will select the 30 Under 30 Class, but you can help your favorite finalist win the Web Choice Award. From now until noon (Central Time) on Friday March 25, you can vote online for a finalist from each of your devices, every single day. The finalist with the most votes will automatically be a member of the 30 Under 30 Class, and the judges will select the other 29 honorees. With the deadline right around the corner, now is the time to step up and support your favorite finalist.
Remember, the rules allow you to cast a single vote per device, per day. Don’t miss a day, and don’t miss a device!

GCAAR YPN is proud of the accomplishments of our current and alumni members. We strongly encourage you to vote for one of these real estate all stars.

My specialty is assisting first time home buyers, and more specifically, single women of the millennial generation. These buyers want to purchase condominiums close to downtown D.C., and they have the finances and determination to do it. My typical client is a well educated, market-savvy professional whose career success has given her the means to find the perfect starter home to enrich her life and shorten her commute, while taking advantage of an urban lifestyle

I have been selling since age 10, when I created a landscaping business complete with business cards and a marketing plan. By age 12, I was creating and selling CDs to classmates. And at age 19 I started my first LLC—a company that accepted parents’ credit card payments for water delivery to Georgetown University dorms (yes, I sold water). Real estate, to me, required the perfect combination of my entrepreneurial skills that I had been building since age 10 and the relationships I had amassed as a lifelong Washingtonian.

I quickly learned that providing the best possible service to a current client would lead to a new referred client. Maintaining a high level of integrity and devotion to the industry and to my clients became my priority. Now, three-and-a-half years later, 90 percent of my business is from previous client referrals. I am passionate about being the REALTOR® that people want to do business with. With my continued enthusiasm for real estate, I hope to change lives for the better and give back to my community.

My goal is to be my client’s “REALTOR® for life” and always provide them with the best possible advice. The suggestions I give my clients are no different than what I would say to my mom, dad, or best friend. My social calendar is filled with client appreciation events such as happy hours and cocktail parties. I also enjoy having clients over for dinner so we can get to know each other better. Social media has also been a big driver of my success. I post all my sales, listings, and client photos to my business and personal Facebook pages so people in my sphere can share in my successes. It also helps build trust for when it is their turn to buy or sell.

Housing vouchers are commonly known to pay for rental housing, however in the District and counties such as Montgomery, Prince George and Farifax, they have programs that help those same families to become home owners. According to the Washington Post, U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Homeownership Voucher Program has helped more than 100 families have purchased homes in the District, 16 in Montgomery County, 66 in Prince George’s County, and 28 in Fairfax County. Unfortunately, not many families know the existence of such programs, because in just Montgomery County alone, more than 6,600 vouchers were issued in 2015 and less than 2% are taking advantage of the program.
While each local housing authority has its own specific rules to qualify families, each provides educational programs that help families to improve their credit scores, accumulate savings, and improve their financial situation to qualify with lenders. Moreover, Homeownership Voucher Program protects home buyers by requiring two home inspections: one by the housing authority, second by an independent home inspector.

At GCAAR YPN, we are always looking for exciting ways to break the mold. Original events like our immensely successful Professional Development Event, "Dirty Little Secrets," have proved to be a great way to connect GCAAR Members, share helpful industry insight, and support causes and organizations important to our industry and community. With the support and momentum that we have from 2015, and the exciting additions to our committee, we couldn't be more excited to take our goals to the next level!
It's nice to see that similar innovation has paid-off big for our brothers and sisters in the Atlanta Board of REALTORS (ABR) and for the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC). Kudos to ABR for hosting the "wildly successful" 2015 Chili Cook Off for RPAC investment. What started out as a modest event in 2012, the Chili Cook Off has exploded in recent years. With over 350 attendees, the 2015 Chili Cook Off provided a great networking opportunity and an all around good time for ABR members. As if that's not enough, ABR managed to raise more than $20,000.00 for RPAC in that single event!
GCAAR YPN commends ABR for their dedication to planning unique events that are fun and exciting, and for their support of RPAC.
Do you want to learn more about RPAC? Click Here to check out the REALTOR Action Center Website.

WHAT IS RPAC?
Since 1969, the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) has promoted the election of pro-REALTOR® candidates across the United States. The purpose of RPAC is clear: REALTORS®raise and spend money to elect candidates who understand and support their interests. The money to accomplish this comes from voluntary contributions made by REALTORS®. These are not members’ dues; this is money given freely by REALTORS® in recognition of how important campaign fundraising is to the political process. RPAC doesn’t buy votes. RPAC enables REALTORS® to support candidates that support the issues that are important to their profession and livelihood.

WHAT IS THE REALTOR PARTY?
The REALTOR® Party is a powerful alliance of REALTORS® and REALTOR® Associations working to protect and promote homeownership and property investment. The REALTOR® Party speaks with one voice to advance candidates and public policies that build strong communities and promote a vibrant business environment.
Now more than ever, it is critical for REALTORS® across America to come together and speak with one voice about the stability a sound and dynamic real estate market brings to our communities. From city hall to the state house to the U.S. Capitol, our elected officials are making decisions that have a huge impact on the bottom line of REALTORS® and their customers. Through the support of REALTORS® like you, the REALTOR® Party represents your interests.
